MLB DFS PICKS FOR DRAFTKINGS 7/25/2020

We could not have asked for a better return to baseball. We saw Professor Hendricks and Shane Bieber deal some absolute gems. The Red Sox showed that they don't need Mookie Betts to still be one of the best offenses in baseball. To top it all off, a walk off grand slam from the A's Matt Olson.

To follow it up, we have a juicy 11 game slate this afternoon. I've decided to break this down by giving a few of my favorite plays at each position.

*Please note that this article is being typed out before all of the teams have released their lineups. Be sure to check that your players will be starting before the slate locks.*

Starting Pitcher

Yu Darvish $10.5k - Yu is the most expensive pitcher on the slate due to his strikeout upside. He comes with risk however as he faces a tough Brewer's lineup with solid hitting conditions at Wrigley. Hendricks made the Brewers look silly last night so if Darvish is on, I don't see why he can't do the same. RISKY.

Zach Wheeler $10.1k - The Marlins actually gave Aaron Nola some trouble last night. They ended up getting the win against the Phillies in their season opener. While I do think they are improving, I still don't see them as a huge threat. Wheeler comes in as the 2nd most expensive pitcher on the slate behind Yu Darvish by $400. The 30 year old finished the 2019 season with a 3.96 ERA and signed a big contract with Philly in December. He's got a great matchup vs a RH heavy lineup and is going to look to get his team their first W. If you're into narratives, Zach and his wife just had their first child so maybe he's feeling good?

Lance McCullers Jr. $8.5k - Lance is simply underpriced here against a strikeout-heavy Mariners lineup. It won't go unnoticed as I expect him to be heavily owned but for good reason. I like this spot for him a lot and he even looked really good in his tuneup game prior to the season. Strong play.

Catcher

Pedro Severino $4.1k - Red Sox have a great matchup but on the other side, so do the O's. I like this spot for Severino batting in the 6 spot.

Kevin Plawecki $2.7k - Easy punt play. He'll probably be pretty popular as his team has a cake matchup vs Cobb.

First Base

Anthony Rizzo $4.8k - Coming off a home run last night. Great matchup vs inexperienced RH with great hitting conditions.

Mitch Moreland $4.3k - See a trend? I liked the Red Sox last night and I like them again here today in an even better matchup. Moreland is too cheap in my opinion.

Second Base

Max Muncy $4.4k - Priced too low for someone who just hits tanks. Hit two last night and in a prime spot to do add on to that today.

Scott Kingery $3.9k - I'm a big fan of this guy. He likes to hit lefties and his team is in a good spot here to put up some runs and get an extra at-bat or two.

Third Base

Rafael Devers $5.6k - It's a lot to pay but this is a situation where I think it can be worth it. Hitting 3rd in a cake matchup and the Sox should be able to pile on some more runs.

Hanser Alberto 3.7k - On the other side, Alberto is a very underrated hitter with a matchup against a mediocre lefty. That's a pretty good price to get him at.

Shortstop

Alex Bregman 5.4k - Stros are still a good team despite the cheating. Great matchup here for them.

Jean Segura $3.6k - Great discount on a guy who can hit lefties and will most likely be at the top of the lineup card.

Outfield

J.D. Martinez $4.9k - I still think he's too cheap. Should be over 5k and he's already off to a hot start.

Austin Hays $4.5k - This guy can hit, run and he's their leadoff hitter. Love his game and love this spot.

Andrew Benintendi $3.9k - I think you have to lock him in at this price. Love the Red Sox stack.
