Yesterday wasn't our day but we're ready to bounce back today as we take on a 8 game slate. We finally get to breathe a little bit while choosing our pitchers since the last two days were dreadful. No real weather concerns except for some pop up storms in ATL but it shouldn't be much of an issue. Let's get into it!
Pitcher
Jose Berrios $10.2k - He looked really bad in his first start and the matchup isn't ideal .. or is it? Jose has pitched like the ace he is against the Tribe in his career. You know he's going to look to bounce back here after allowing 5 runs in just 4.0 IP in his first start. I'm still going to label this as a risky play since we know he's capable of getting hit around and this Cleveland lineup is no walk in the park.
Shane Bieber $9.8k - Tough matchup for the Biebs tonight against a top tier offense. Usually I wouldn't on him but he is under $10k and we probably won't see that much in the future. He's done okay against the Twins in his short career but their offense is no joke. Because of the upside and the fact that he won't be high owned, I'm going to label this as a gpp play that could really pay off if it works.
Dinelson Lamet $9.2k - This is a really easy play and we will see high ownership because of it. Lamet is a really talented pitcher and he gets to go up against a weak Giants lineup. I'd probably pay 10k for him tonight but luckily I don't have to. Not much more to it. This would be my Fanduel pitcher as well.
Ross Stripling $8.4k - I was surprised to see him throw 92 pitches in his last start so maybe Dave Roberts is letting his SP go a little bit this year. Either way, this is a good spot for him to throw another good game and pick up his 2nd win early in the season. The D-backs haven't really showed us much with the bats yet and $8.4k is a good price to pay for a pitcher who just put up 30 DK points with another solid matchup in front of him. Look for the Dodgers to get him a win as well.
Dylan Bundy $8.2k - This might be chasing a little bit but it won't surprise me if a lot of other people go here as well. Bundy was dealing in his first start and really shutdown the A's bats. Now he get's an easier matchup with the Mariners who we will be attacking plenty this year. Dylan has the ability to pick up strikeouts while also being able to keep the pitch count down. I like what I see from the halos and I think they can make the expanded playoffs this year. I fully expect the Angels to get Bundy the win tonight.
Brady Singer $6.8k - I'm seeing his name a lot today and why not? If he was able to have a solid outing against the Indians then I don't see what's stopping him from mowing down the Tigers. Seven strikeouts in his first start is really appealing and if he does it again then you're in really good shape at that price. Oh, and the Tigers suck.
Ivan Nova $5.4k - And if you scroll all the way down you will find Nova who gets the Royals tonight. He had a rough first outing but it wasn't as bad as it seems. He had to face the Reds in Great American Small Park and gave up 3 hits but also surrendered 4 walks. The only reason I'm listing him is if you want to get a bunch of big bats. Otherwise, just try to make your line without him.
Catcher
Gary Sanchez $4.9k - Yankees righties are in play and perhaps this is the matchup Gary needs to get himself going. He's always a threat for a bomb or two but I will say that this is a lot to pay for someone who still doesn't have a hit.
Christian Vazquez $4.5k - He's looking good to start the season and gets to see another lefty. I roster him against lefties pretty often and it usually pays off. A little pricey but he shouldn't be high owned at all.
Wilson Ramos $3.1k - Was surprised to see that he's all the way down in the 8 spot tonight against s lefty but I still really like him and this price is just too low for a hitter of his quality. Mets righties for me today.
First Base
Pete Alonso $5.1k - Like I said before, I like Mets righties and he's always a threat to go long. He actually has reverse splits but it doesn't really matter who he faces. Also gets the Sox bullpen.
Luke Voit $4.2k - I like when he's around the middle of the order. He's in the 6 spot and is a threat to hit a bomb. I'd include him in your Yankees stack as he'll be one of the cheaper options.
Ryan O'hearn $2k - This is a straight up punt but at the same time, I don't hate the spot that he's in. How often do you get a clean up hitter at minimum price in a pretty good matchup. Royals will probably have more ownership again as they continue to be underpriced.
Second Base
DJ LeMahieu $4.4k - I'm absolutely locking him in at this price (as is everyone else). Get him at 3rd if you feel like getting one of these other guys.
Whit Merrifield $4.1k - If the day ends in Y then Whit will probably be in my picks. As long as DK keeps disrespecting him with this price tag then he'll be in my lineup. Also available in outfield.
Hanser Alberto $3.6k - Keep an eye out for some of these Orioles as the season goes on. They'll always be pretty cheap and they're in play against a lefty. Alberto looks great to start the year and this is a steal in my opinion.
Third Base
Anthony Rendon $5.4k - Rendon vs a bad lefty!! Been doing this for a few years now. He comes at a price but if the Angels score as many runs as I think they will, then he will be a great play.
Renato Nunez $3.8k - Just like Alberto! Love the matchup for him at a great price. The thing you have to worry about is the Yankees bullpen so you'll want your points quick from them.
David Fletcher $3.2k - This cheap for a good hitter that's leading off in a lineup that will be scoring runs tonight? Sign me up. Pair with Trout or Rendon or both!
Shortstop
Gleyber Torres $5.1k - He hasn't gotten going yet but it's only a matter of time.. Tonight is another great spot for him and his squad.
Amed Rosario $4.7k - Amed is a very underrated hitter in my opinion and is in a wonderful spot tonight along with the rest of his team. I love my leadoff hitters and this one has some pop.
Xander Bogaerts $4.5k - Cheap price for Xander and I like this spot for him. I think he'll go under looked here with all of the other options.
Outfield
Mike Trout $6.1k - There's no price that's too expensive for the GOAT. Usually when I stack the Angels, he is the first one in my lineup. The extra protection with Rendon behind him will be HUGE for him.
Giancarlo Stanton $5.5k - Always a double dong threat and it's a great night to have him in your lineup. Just another Yankee to squeeze in there.
Yo Cespedes/JD Davis $3.8k/$3.7k - I like Davis a little more and you get him $100 cheaper but there's no problem with having both. JD also available at 3rd.
Jorge Soler $3.6k - Still soooo cheap and I don't understand why. Did he not lead the AL in home runs last year?? Good matchup and he can come through with home runs obviously.
