MLB DFS PICKS FOR DRAFTKINGS 8/11/2020

We have a juicy 12 game slate on this fine Tuesday evening and I feel a nice bounce back coming after falling just short last night. I can't be too mad at my picks however as my recommended Nationals stack went off. Unfortunately, I didn't take my own advice and only grabbed one hitter from that team, Starlin Castro, and he managed to go 0 for 6 while only putting up 4 DK points. I forgive you Starlin.

It's a new day and I'm ready to make some money. I apologize for the brief article yesterday but my house was basically in the middle of a tornado so I was slightly distracted. All is well now and I'm going to be able to go more in depth on these plays. We have no weather concerns tonight so lets get into it.

Pitcher

Max Scherzer $10.8k

At the top of the board we have Mad Max and although he's the most expensive pitcher on the slate, I think this is slightly below what he should really be priced at. Obviously, his ceiling is massive as we've seen him pull off some incredible performances including a 20 K game. He was pulled in the first inning of his last start against this same Mets team due to a hamstring injury. It doesn't sound like they'll have him on any pitch limit but keep an eye out in case that changes. The minor injury will probably scare some people off of him along with the matchup against a solid Mets offense. However, this is Max Scherzer we're talking about. An injury like that definitely does not scare me off of him and he picked up double digit strikeouts in his other two outings. There are quite a few bats to worry about from NY and Max is capable of giving up the long ball but the strikeouts is what saves him. I guess what I'm saying is: if you can get him in your lineup, do it. If not then there are a few other guys I can recommend.

Zack Wheeler $9.9k

At $900 cheaper, Zack gets a better matchup at home against the Orioles. I actually haven't been attacking the O's a lot so far this season because they just keep putting up runs but this is a spot where I feel comfortable doing it. Wheeler has been good to start the season but not amazing. He's given up a combined 11 hits in his two starts while also only striking out six. However, he's managed to have a 2.08 ERA so far and hopefully he's not due for a blow up game here with the amount of base-runners he has allowed. Should be decently high owned.

Dylan Bundy $9.7k

Even with a tough matchup and perhaps too heavy of a price tag, it's hard not to mention Bundy with how great he's been so far this year. Two of his starts did come against the Mariners so keep that in mind but his other one came against the A's which he will see again tonight. I don't want to say that this hot start for Bundy has been a fluke but it's hard to see him continue to be this dominant. Who knows though? I could be wrong. I personally won't end up with Bundy but he is in play. The price tag is what's scaring me away.

Mike Minor $9.6k

I feel like a broken record when I continue to write about pitchers going against Seattle. It didn't work out for us last night but perhaps things can be different here with a lefty and the roof closed in Texas. I'm going to mark this as risky because we still haven't seen anything great from Mike this season and that's a pretty heavy price for someone who has yet to produce. This is the matchup that can get him going though and he might end up in my lineup.

Ross Stripling $7.9k

This is his second start in a row against the Padres and I usually don't like to roster a pitcher in this kind of situation. However, Stripling is perhaps the only pitcher in the mid-tier pricing that I would be comfortable rostering. The Padres are certainly showing that they are capable of doing damage but they have had trouble hitting soft throwing right handers like Stripling over the last few years and they're a right handed heavy lineup.

Marco Gonzales $6.6k

If you're looking for a cheap arm then this is as low as I would go. Marco draws a great matchup vs the Rangers in Texas. As I mentioned before, Texas will have the roof closed tonight, making it a very pitcher friendly park. Marco has been great so far in his first three starts. My thought process is that he should not have any issues with this Texas offense. Even if one of the sluggers takes him deep, I'm still confident that he'll be able to produce good numbers at this price tag. However, I'm not confident in the Mariners ability to get him the win here.

Catcher

Travis d'Arnaud $4.8k

You're going to see a common theme here as I love both sides of this ATL/NYY game. Braves and Yankees stacks are in play here and d'Arnaud is in a great spot.

Carson Kelly $3.9k

Coors stacks are also in play and I think this is too cheap for Kelly against a lefty. I'm locking him in.

Austin Romine $2.8k

I always make sure to include a cheap catcher and this is where I'd go in that spot

First Base

Daniel Murphy $5k

On fire so far this year and hitting in the middle of a lineup that should be putting up a good chunk of runs tonight.

Luke Voit $4.2k

Simply too cheap for this spot. The yankees are fully in play here and he's hitting cleanup.

Jose Martinez $4k

I like to attack Martin Perez and the Red Sox bullpen. Jose feasts against lefties.

Second Base

DJ LaMahieu $5.1k

I don't stack the Yankees without him. Leading off, has been hitting the ball almost harder than anyone in the MLB so far

Mike Brosseau $3.3k

SO cheap for someone who's been outstanding at the plate and leading off against the bad Lefty. Love this play.

Third Base

Jose Ramirez $5.7k

I have the Indians as a sneaky stack tonight. He's expensive but there's no way he'll have a lot of ownership

Austin Riley $4k

He's always a bomb threat and gets a nice matchup against the lefty at Yankee stadium.

Asdrubal Cabrera $3.8k

Had quite the game last night and why not go back to him here? The spot is just as good and the Nationals are in a great spot again.

Shortstop

Trea Turner $4.9k

If he is heating up then watch out. He's a threat to put up points in a hurry with the speed and power combo.

Dansby Swanson $4.7k

Braves stack continued and he's always in play against the lefty. In the 2 hole today.

Tim Anderson $4.1k

Good matchup and price considering how good of a hitter he is. White Sox in general are in play tonight.

Outfield

Aaron Judge $6.3k

Expensive but the guy is a beast and always a double dong threat. Definitely needs to be in your NYY stack.

Juan Soto $5.2k

He really came out swinging. Such a cake matchup and I expect the Nats to do more damage tonight.

Starling Marte $4.9k

In coors against a lefty. The price is a bit much but get him if you can.

Marcell Ozuna $4.4k

This Braves stack wouldn't be complete without him especially vs the young lefty.

Franmil Reyes $4.1k

Lefty killa. This is the time to roster him.

Adam Duvall $4k

Include him in your Braves stack if you do it. Still a lot of pop in his bat.
