MLB DFS PITCHERS FOR DRAFTKINGS 8/3/2020

It seems like the MLB season is just hanging on by a thread. We wake up every day in fear of the notification that there will no longer be baseball. As long as there is, we're going to be trying to make some money. Because of time, I'm only going to be writing about a few pitchers that I like tonight. It looks like we don't have any weather issues to worry about so let's jump right into it.

Pitcher

Gerrit Cole $11k - Good amount of options on this slate for pitching and none better than Gerrit Cole who gets a match up against the Phillies at home. We just got word that tomorrow's game between these two teams has been PPD which is a little odd since this one is being played. Nonetheless, Cole should be able to take advantage of the fact that the Phillies are coming off six straight off days due to Covid. He's already had two starts and while he didn't look dominant, he showed that he's still a safe option with a high floor and massive ceiling. The Phillies have plenty of bats that go down via strikeout so look for Cole to have a solid outing tonight.

Walker Buehler $10.3k - Walker is opening up the series between the Dodgers and Padres tonight. He had a tough first outing against the Astros but this is a nice bounce back spot here in San Diego. The Padres are definitely an improving offense but they do still strikeout a bunch and Buehler has the stuff to pick up double digit Ks. I think this is a fair price for him and a great pivot off of Cole.

Alec Mills $8k - Scroll down a little bit to find Mills against the Royals at Wrigley Field. While we usually see Wrigley as a more hitter friendly park this time of the year, tonight will be really cool with winds blowing in hard. Mills looked great in his start against the Reds allowing just 2 ER in 6 strong innings pitched. This is a better matchup for him with the Royals still being one of the worst offenses in baseball. They don't really have anybody capable of hitting the ball out in these conditions and Mills should be able to cruise through this lineup. Great option for SP2.

Frankie Montas $7.2k - If you're having trouble fitting some guys in your lineup tonight, Montas could be a solid piece as he gets a matchup vs the Mariners who strikeout at over a 25% rate. Montas is no Gerrit Cole but he's capable of picking up a few strikeouts and if he's on, we could see him go deep into this game. The A's should also be able to pick up the win which gives you a chance for those extra points.
