Fiene VS O'Connell 2021 NFL Mock Draft 1.0

With only two weeks left in the NFL regular season, the 2021 NFL Draft order is starting to take shape. With that being said, it's the perfect time for our first side by side mock draft of the year. In this mock, we did a full two rounds with no trades.

Fien's Favorite Fits

1. Penei Sewell to Cincinnati

This one's a given, but the Bengals getting maybe the best tackle prospect ever to protect Joe Burrow and open up lanes for Joe Mixon is a match made in heaven.

2. Jaycee Horn to Denver

Jaycee Horn is exactly the type of corner Vic Fangio looks for. He's strong, physical, lengthy, and good in the run game. The Broncos will desperately need a corner after they cut AJ Bouye after this season.

3. Jerimiah Owusu-Koromoah to Cleveland

The Browns are a team on the rise, but their defense looks outmatched at times. Owusu-Koromoah gives them an athletic linebacker that can run sideline to sideline and help out in the run game.

4. Trevon Moehrig to Philadelphia

Moehrig provides over the top security for a weak Eagles secondary. He's great as a center fielder with good ball skills that should help the Eagles create some turnovers.

5. Amon-Ra St. Brown to Washington

Cobi and I agree on this pick, so he must also love the fit and it's easy to see why. St. Brown is the perfect complement to star WR Terry McLaurin, given his size and big play ability.

1. Patrick Surtain II to Philadelphia

It is no secret that Philadelphia has been a disappointment this year, at least prior to the Jalen Hurts days. Like Fien predicted, a WR would make sense here, but I personally don't see that as likely just based on the fact that they took Jalen Reagor in the first round in 2020. Pass coverage has been a liability in Philly for some time, and Patrick Surtain fits right in with the man-heavy scheme that they run.

2. Kyle Pitts to New England

I see Kyle Pitts to New England as a top fit purely based off of the value that New England is getting. Kyle Pitts at 15 is an absolute steal as he is a clear top 10 talent. He is the prototypical "match-up nightmare" tight end and whoever the future Patriots QB is will reap the benefits.

3. Rashod Bateman to New York (Jets)

Oh the Jets. They can't even lose right. With their recent win, they fall to the second pick in the draft and end up taking Justin Fields there in my mock. With their second first rounder (via the Jamal Adams trade), the Jets get him some much needed receiver help with the addition of Rashod Bateman. Bateman would flourish most in a vertical passing scheme, a style that Fields loves to play in. Fien agreed on this pick as well.

4. Azeez Ojulari to New York (Giants)

I may be slightly biased here, but I would love Ojulari to the Giants in the second round. I don't label Ojulari as a top 20-30 prospect like most do because of his lack of involvement in run defense, but I think he would fit perfectly in the Giants defensive scheme where he can act as a pure pass rusher off the edge. Although he isn't having the best of years, I think he is a comparable prospect to last year's K'Lavon Chaisson.

5. Brevin Jordan to New Orleans

While Mac Jones would make sense here, I don't think that is the way to go with Jameis Winston still on the team. Although I like Jones and had him way higher than most others prior to the 2020 collegiate season, I view him as a low-ceiling starter or a very good backup. On the other hand, Brevin Jordan would bring a new dynamic to the New Orleans offense. He is more of a big receiver than he is a true tight end, but Brevin would bringing an electrifying young presence that the receivers on this team lack aside from Michael Thomas.
