NFL Week 2 DFS Picks For FanDuel

What a crazy NFL Week 1 we had! From the surprising blowouts in the Saints-Packers and the Texans-Jaguars games, and one of the craziest regular season games I have ever seen in the Raiders-Ravens, there was no shortage of excitement to kick off the NFL season. In DFS, I have managed to hit in cash formats on 4 out of 5 of the slates, and tournaments in 3 out of the 5 of them. Although Week 1 is always exciting with the first return of football, my favorite week of DFS action is Week 2. There will be fewer surprises in terms of play time and involvement in an offense, and the rust from the players missing the preseason wears off. Of course, there is a lot to discuss, so let's jump in!

Top Play:

Derrick Henry ($8000) -

ree

Derrick Henry is going under the radar this week. It wasn't pretty for anyone who rostered him last week in the blowout loss to the Cardinals, but that performance gave him a discounted price for this slate. After being forced to throw a lot early in the game to no success, I think the Titans will go back to their roots and pound the ball with Henry this week. Seattle's run defense ranks around the middle of the pack, but that doesn't dissuade me when it is Derrick Henry that we are talking about. $8000 is the cheapest that I have seen Derrick Henry since I can remember, and anytime he is in a decent matchup at that price without being chalky, I want to jam him into lineups. This play doesn't come without risk, as the Titans could easily fall behind early again minimizing his usage, but that is a risk I am willing to take.

Best Value:

Najee Harris ($6100) -

Like Derrick Henry, fantasy owners were not happy with the performance that Najee Harris had in Week 1. The Bills essentially shut Harris down on all fronts, limiting him to 49 yards despite him playing every single offensive snap for the Steelers. This week, Najee Harris gets a much easier matchup against a Raiders defense that shouldn't scare many teams. With no competition in the backfield and receiving upside, I love Najee Harris at a reduced price tag of $6100. This cost is within the same range of players such as Chase Edmonds, Leonard Fournette, and Melvin Gordon, all of which have a much more difficult path to success. I would expect Najee Harris to be the highest played running back on the slate, but he is chalk for good reason.

Fade:

Tom Brady ($8200) -

Tom Brady has all the makings for an elite fantasy showing this week. He is playing arguably the worst defensive team in the NFL in the Falcons, is coming off of a dominant 4 touchdown game, and plays in an air raid scheme. The combination of all these things should make me want to get a ton of exposure to Brady, but there is one problem - the Falcons are too bad. I fully expect the Buccaneers to dominant this game from the start, which means that Brady will get a negative game script from a fantasy perspective. Of course, if they do jump to a big lead, that will probably mean that Brady threw some touchdowns, but I want to play someone who has maximum upside for the entirety of a game. I prefer the other top quarterback options in Week 2.
