NFL Week 5 DFS Picks For FanDuel

Week 4 of NFL DFS action wasn't as prolific as I hoped it would be, but the lineup was still able to hit in cash formats, keeping us at 4/4 on the season in that regard. With the London game between the Falcons and the Jets, we have one less game on this slate than we have seen on other slates so far, but there are still plenty of excellent scenarios to hit on. We don't have projected shootouts such as KC-PHI or LAR-TB like last week, but the scripts for many of the games we have should be favorable for DFS formats. Let's dive in to the breakdown of the Week 5 NFL main slate on FanDuel!

Top Play:

DeAndre Hopkins ($7500) -

ree

You will be hard pressed to find any slate where DeAndre Hopkins is cheaper than he is now. It has been a frustrating two weeks for fantasy owners, as Hopkins has put up back-to-back performances of 3.6 and 8.7, but I suspect a big bounce back week on Sunday. Hopkins will face off against a 49ers secondary that is the weakness of the unit, and he should be able to feast if on the same page as Kyler Murray. The 49ers are also a decent team, so the Cardinals should have a relatively pass-heavy game script. If I had to rank my second favorite game to attack (top one listed below), than this game would come in at this spot. I love DeAndre Hopkins at a $7500 cost.

Best Value:

Damien Williams ($5800) -

With David Montgomery out for at least the next couple of weeks with a knee injury, Damien Williams will step in as the starting running back for the Bears. Due to the fact that FanDuel made their pricing for this week prior to the confirmation of the injury, we have an excellent spot to take advantage of with Williams. The Raiders currently sit at 23rd in the league against the run, and we have seen the Bears take a run-heavy approach to their game script in recent weeks. You would think that Justin Fields would somewhat limit the upside of Williams due to his mobility, but he has only rushed 6 times for 21 yards in his first two starts. At $5800, Damien Williams is far too cheap for his role while Montgomery is out. Damien Williams should be heavily owned, but I don't think he will be too chalky.

Best Game Environment:

NYG @ DAL - As a Giants fan myself, I have extensive trust issues with the team, but it is hard to pass up on this game. With an implied total of 52, this game has the highest projected scoring on the slate by a decent margin, with the Packers-Bengals being the only other game with a line of over 50. The Cowboys are favored by 7 in this matchup, which makes me slightly favor Daniel Jones at a discounted price to Dak Prescott. The record won't show it, but Daniel Jones has been playing very good football so far this season, and his fantasy production has been anchored by his rushing upside. On this slate, Jones is averaging the 5th most fantasy points among quarterbacks, and is the cheapest of that bunch. I don't mind attacking the passing and running side of either team, with my favorite skill players being Ezekiel Elliot, Saquon Barkley, CeeDee Lamb, Kenny Golladay, and Kadarius Toney. In a divisional game with two underperforming defenses, I like my chances of this game hitting the over.
