NFL Week 5 DFS Picks For FanDuel

We are on to Week 5 of NFL action! Although I was all over Jonathan Taylor last week who ultimately let me down with a miserable sub 5 FD point performance, I still managed to have my best Sunday main slate line of the season so far. I have yet to have the killer multiplier lineup that I have had on numerous showdowns already, but I am confident we will get that this week. This main slate features 12 total games with a plethora of player options to choose from. Let's dive in to the breakdown of the NFL main slate on FanDuel for Week 5!

Top Play:

Dalvin Cook - (RB - $7300) -

Yes, I understand that Dalvin Cook has not lived up to fantasy expectations this season. There was to be some expected regression with the Vikings taking a more pass-heavy approach this season, but not regression to the production numbers Cook has put together thus far. In four games, he has failed to reach 10 FD points twice, and his peak was 13.6, although he was hurt in the game. Even after taking all of these into account, Dalvin Cook is my favorite play of Week 5. When you further dive in to the numbers, you will see that Cook's lack of production has not been due to volume. In his 5.6 FD point game against the Eagles, the Vikings fell behind quickly forcing them into a very pass heavy game script. Against the Lions, Cook was well on his way to a 20 FD point game before exiting with injury. In the other two games, Cook totaled 45 touches and 194 yards, but failed to reach the end zone which is why his output has been subpar. The Vikings still want to feed Cook, and there is no better week to do it then against the league's worst run defense. The Chicago Bears are allowing 183.3 rushing yards per game - expect Cook to chef up a stellar game.

Best Value:

Elijah Moore - (WR - $5300) -

Call it a gut feeling, call it a hunch, call it what you want, but I am expecting Elijah Moore to have a breakout game this week. Although this play is largely due to intuition, there are a number of factors that contribute towards my belief that Moore is going to have a big week at a very friendly salary of $5300. Zach Wilson is back under center for the Jets, and although rookie Garrett Wilson will certainly take some shine, Elijah Moore was his favorite target last season. Carrying the most routes run in the NFL so far in 2022, expect Elijah Moore to command some targets. The Jets are expected to trail for the majority of the game which will force them in to a pass-heavy game script, and the Dolphins are currently allowing 299.3 passing yards per game, which is the second worst in the NFL through the first four weeks. If you are looking for a salary reliever at the receiver position, look no further than Elijah Moore.

Best Game Environment:

Philadelphia Eagles @ Arizona Cardinals -

There are no games with an implied total greater than 50 this week which makes targeting an individual game stack slightly more challenging. Nonetheless, if you are interested in loading up on one game this week, the Eagles at the Cardinals should be on top of your list as they carry a slate high 48.5 point total. A large burden of the point scoring load is projected to go the Eagles as they are 5.5 point favorites, but Kyler Murray is fully capable of putting up some points as well. The Cardinals are allowing the fifth most points this season, which could cause a shootout if they are down early and are forced to air it out. My top priorities for a main stack would be Jalen Hurts, AJ Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Dallas Goedert with a Hollywood Brown or Zach Ertz run back, but Miles Sanders, Kyler Murray, James Conner, and the other Cardinals receivers are viable.
