NFL Week 6 DFS Picks For FanDuel

Updated: Oct 17, 2021

With NFL Sunday just around the corner, it is time to break down the main slate on FanDuel for Week 6! Last week, things were looking spectacular for the lineup early on with big games from Derrick Henry, Alexander Mattison, and Mike Evans, but the injury that knocked Daniel Jones out of the game ultimately pushed me out of the cash in everything. If he hadn't gotten injured, the lineup would have likely cashed in all formats easily. Nonetheless, we are now on to Week 6, which is an even numbered week. This will have no meaning for people who are tuning into my articles for the first time, but for the returnees, they know what it means. Since the start of the 2020 NFL season (yes, last season), I have hit on every single even numbered week in cash formats except for one. During Week 4, the lineup was not able to reach the tournament threshold, but just scraped in for 50-50s and double ups. This slate for NFL DFS is the most interesting of the season so far to me, so hopefully I can keep my streak alive. With a ton of pivotal players already ruled out, and with many more still questionable, there will be many price tags that are disproportionate to expected workload this week. With all these questionable tags, more excellent plays will likely be made when players are ruled out. Let's dive in to the breakdown of the Week 6 NFL main slate on FanDuel!

Top Play:

Kareem Hunt ($7400) -

ree

The theme of this week is injury. As aforementioned, a wide range of players have already been ruled out for Sunday, creating for numerous plays who should exceed value in reference to their cost. There are plenty of other players still carrying a questionable tag too, so many other top plays could be created if even a couple of those players end up sitting. Of all the terrific options this weekend, Kareem Hunt is my favorite. Many other people have that same opinion, so expect Hunt to be chalky, but he is chalky for a reason. Kareem Hunt has eclipsed 15 FD points in four out of five games on the season, with two of those being 20+ point performances. The ridiculous thing is, he was putting up that production as a backup to Nick Chubb. With no Chubb for Sunday, Kareem Hunt should see all of the work in an offense that has built their entire identity off the run game. $7400 is far too cheap for the role that he should have in what looks to be a high-scoring affair, so I am all in. Hunt does carry a questionable tag currently, so be sure to check his status before lock on Sunday, but everything points towards him playing. (Update: Hunt will be on a snap count - big hit to his value)

Best Value:

Khalil Herbert ($5500)/Darrel Williams ($5200) -

When I start my process of constructing my lineup for the main slate on FanDuel, the first thing I always do is look to find replacement running backs that are coming in at a cheap cost. With all the injury this week, I am lucky to have multiple of these type of backs to consider. Although more could be established if other players are ruled out, the two cheap backs that stand out this week are Khalil Herbert and Darrel Williams. This shouldn't be news to you, as Damien Williams and Clyde Edwards-Helaire have been ruled out for some time now. Although both of these players will be high-owned on both sites this weekend, it is vastly difficult to not have at least one of these players in your lineup. The Bears have been a run first team with Justin Fields as starter, and Herbert was able to rack up 17 carries last week while splitting duties with Williams. Although the Bears will likely be playing from behind in this game, it is still hard to ignore all the other green flags at just $5500 for Khalil Herbert. Darrel Williams is on the opposite end of the spectrum - the Chiefs have been known to be one of the heaviest passing teams in the league. However, the Chiefs have the highest implied total of any team on the slate, so the chances of Williams racking up yards and finding the end zone are reasonably high. I would look to target one or both of these players on Sunday.

Best Game Environment:

KC @ WAS -

A Kansas City Chiefs game and fantasy owners delight, a tale as old as time, or at least as old as 2018 when Mahomes first came into the league as a starter. As I have said in nearly every article this season covering the best game environment, whatever game the Chiefs are playing in will always be a candidate for this award. This week, they take home the title once again. Coming in with a line of 55.5 points, KC-WAS has the highest implied total on the slate by a considerable amount. The games tied for the second most implied points, LAC-BAL and ARI-CLE, come in with a line of 50.5, which trails by quite a bit. All three of these games are the matchups that I have the most interest in for DFS, so I will be targeting them. In the KC-WAS game, I have a lot of interest in both teams. Of course, the Chiefs are the favorable side, but attacking both angles is a strategy that I like. Like always, Patrick Mahomes is one of the top plays at quarterback on the slate, although going for a discounted Heinicke is an excellent option as well. Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, Darrel Williams, and Terry McLaurin are the other players that I have considerable interest in, but be sure to monitor the status of Hill and McLaurin as they are currently listed as questionable, but are expected to suit up.
