MLB DFS Picks for Fanduel 4/8/21

First MLB article for @sportsversehq was a success. My lineup exceeded 200 FD pts which finished in the top 10% of a large contest. Lucas Giolito was my SP who scored 43 FD pts. My top 3B Ryan McMahon single handedly broke the slate with 65.6 FD pts. He hit 3 HR’s for the Rockies and was under owned due to the possibility of a postponement. Dominic Smith also paid off scoring 22.2 FD pts with a HR for the Mets. I am ready to get a streak going with today’s 7 game slate starting at 1:10pm.

Reminder: If you have any lineup questions prior to lock, I will be happy to answer any of them if you comment and tag in under the article or DM me @rogersaj07. Also, if you retweet the article and DM me I will send you my player core that I will be locking into all of my lineups.

SP:

Top SP:

Jose Berrios: $9,600

In his last outing against the Brewers, Berrios struck out 12 batters with zero earned runs and zero walks. He also had a no-hitter through 6 innings. Berrios has teased 200-K seasons and regularly notches double-digit wins for the Twins. The Mariners are much more conservatize at the plate than the Brewers are, but I expect another solid outing from Berrios.

Secondary SP:

Corbin Burnes: $9,400

Corbin Burnes is by no means a worse option than Berrios today, it is just that the

Cardinals have a better lineup than the Mariners. However, the Cardinals haven’t shown

much promise so far this year. The poor offense of the St. Louis Cardinals, who struck

out nine times against the Miami Marlins and Pablo Lopez. We can expect another big

day from Burnes

Value SP:

Taijuan Walker: $7,700

Today’s slate is filled with high-priced pitchers such as Berrios, Burnes and Lynn. If you

want to be different, Walker is the pitcher to target. Walker is no scrub, he pitched well

for the Mariners during his tenure there. Now, he plays for the Mets who will provide him

with the run support he needs to pitch his best. Also, the Marlins lineup has

underperformed so far this year. They lack power which will benefit Walker.

1B:

Top 1B:

Pete Alonso: $3,500

The Miami Marlins haven't officially announced a starter as I write this, but it's reportedly

either Nick Neidert or Paul Campbell. Both options are right-handed pitchers. New York

Mets can rough up either pitcher, since roster is jam-packed with hitters who pummel right-handed pitcher

Secondary 1B:

Dominic Smith: $3,100 (1B/OF)

With the Marlins going with a right-hander today, that means Smith will play the field and

most likely bat 5th for the Mets. Smith came to play in his first game in 2021. He hit 1 HR

and 2 RBI’s. I believe Smith is the best pure-hitter on the Mets. He is a lock for me every time he is in the lineup if he continues to be priced in the low to mid $3k range.

Value 1B:

Mitch Garver: $2,400

Since I am paying up at other positions, I will take the value here. I think Berrios sees

some run support today, especially against Marco Gonzales and his current 7.50 ERA.

At $2400, I'll gladly take a player with 30+ homers during the 2019 season.

2B:

Top 2B:

Ryan McMahon: $3,700 (3B/2B)

2B is the weakest position today by far. So I will either play McMahon at 2B and either

Devers or Moncada at 3B or Hampson at 2B and McMahon at 3B

Secondary 2B:

Garrett Hampson: $3,200 (2B/OF)

Hampson has been hitting at the top of the order for the Rockies. So he is a good stack to pair with Story today.

Value 2B:

Jeff McNeil: $2,500 (2B/3B)

McNeil sat out for the series finale against the Phillies yesterday. McNeil did not perform

well in the first two games of the series and he is not someone I am running to lock in my

lineup today either. This is strictly a salary relief play. For the talent McNeil has, $2,500 is too cheap.

Top 3B:

Ryan McMahon: $3,700 (3B/2B)

I don’t see McMahon having another 3-dinger night tonight, but McMahon is facing off

against the right-handed Merrill Kelly. Kelly has displayed a 2.00 WHIP and 6.75 ERA.

His price only jumped $200. Fire up McMahon again.

Secondary 3B:

Yoan Moncada: $3,100

Moncada has been horrible to start the year. He only has 4 hits on the entire year in 6

games played. The talent is there however, and you play talent especially when it is

priced in the low $3k range. The switch-hitting Moncada will battle with the right-handed

Brad Keller who got absolutely bombed in his only outing so far this year. Moncada

brings a decent floor to this game with at least six FanDuel fantasy points in each of his

last four games.

Value 3B:

Rafael Devers: $2,900

The Red Sox are batting against former Ace Matt Harvey, who is trying to back a

comeback into the MLB. A matchup with Matt Harvey is superb for their outlook. Harvey

owns a 5.79 ERA, 4.75 skill-interactive ERA (SIERA), 1.50 WHIP, and surrendered 1.62 home runs per 9 innings.

SS:

Top SS:

Trevor Story: $4,100

I really like McMahon today for the Rockies, but Story is my favorite piece of the lineup, slotting third and owning a .298 ISO and .369 on-base percentage. Story also has 125 weighted runs created plus (wRC+) against righties at home since 2018. Story is off to a slow start but like I said with Moncada, play the talent.

Secondary SS:

Xander Bogaerts: $3,300 (He is out)

The Red Sox will be chalky, but they're worth it. Camden Yards is a band box, and

Harvey has stunk in recent seasons. It may be the last chance that you get to roster

Bogaerts at a salary this low.

Value SS:

Jorge Polanco: $2,500

If you haven't figured it out yet, I will be stacking Twins on Thursday. The Twins SS had a

very respectable .841 OPS when he got over 600 ABs in 2019. I'll gladly take Polanco at

this bargain price.

OF:

Top OF:

Nelson Cruz: $4,200

You must pair a high OPS player in Polanco with an absolute home run machine in

Nelson Cruz. We know Cruz has 40+ homer potential, but he has started this season absolutely ablaze. He has a titanic OPS above 1.500, led by his three homers and .471 batting average so far. Easy play.

Secondary OF:

Charlie Blackmon: $3,900

As much as I love the Twins today, I love the Rockies just as much. Blackmon has not had the start to the season that Cruz had. But as the rest of the Rockies continue to hit, Blackmon should see a return to his 30-homer .300+ average

Value OF:

Dylan Carlson: $2,800

Similar to Garver, Carlson is salary relief for the big bats like Cruz, Story and Blackmon.

One of my favorite OF bargains of the day is Dylan Carlson. He is strictly a GPP play, as he only has three hits so far this season. But all three hits have been home runs I'll take the HR upside for just $2,800

Core/Lineup:

I am going back to a few of my players from the 6th. My core today is Dominic Smith: $3,100, Trevor Story: $4,100, Nelson Cruz: $4,200 and Rafael Devers: $2,900 . I will be taking advantage of the Twins value plays to fit in my stars. Also, the Red Sox offer some interesting value plays if you think it's gonna be a slugfest. Best of luck , let's make it 2 in a row!

Reminder: If you have any lineup questions prior to lock, I will be happy to answer any of them if you comment and tag in under the article or DM me @rogersaj07. Also, if you retweet the article and DM me I will send you my player core that I will be locking into all of my lineups.
