After a busy last couple of days, I am back with another article highlighting my betting advice for tonight's MLB main slate. We were on a fierce hot streak the last two weeks, but have cooled down in the last two days - hopefully we can heat up again tonight. This slate features 12 total games with plenty of strong pitching and hitting options. Let's dive into my breakdown of the MLB main slate on FanDuel!
REMINDER: RTs on the article post on twitter at @SportsVerseHQ are appreciated, as well as following my personal Twitter, @cobioconnell. If you would like to see my lineup package for the NBA/NFL/MLB seasons, message me there. Thank you!
Weather Concerns:
DET @ PIT, OAK @ ATL, NYY @ MIN, TOR @ KCR - The forecasts shows varying degrees of rain or storms in all of these areas close to game time, but none appear to be a major concern right now. As always, check the weather closer to lock.
CHC @ BAL - This spot projects to be a little more severe than the others, but it is still tough to know if it will cause a delay or postponement at this point in time.
Top Pitchers:
1) Kyle Wright ($10500) -
On a slate filled with multiple aces, the young breakout star Kyle Wright stands out as the top DFS option. Wright has been stellar this season with an appealing 27.5% strikeout rate, 2.41 ERA, and is holding opposing batters to just a .192 average, but the main reason why he takes my top spot is because of his matchup. The Athletics hold just a 73 wRC+ against right-handed pitchers, strikeout at a 24.4% rate, and generate little power with a miniscule .108 ISO. I see Kyle Wright facing no issues tonight.
2) Carlos Rodón ($9900) -
Carlos Rodón hasn't been himself in his last four starts as he has surrendered 14 runs while only striking out 17 batters. He allowed just 7 runs with 53 strikeouts through his first six starts, so perhaps Rodón hasn't been fully healthy as of late. Even with his whiff total regressing recently, he still carries the highest strikeout rate of any player on the slate (30.4%), so his upside is undeniable. The Rockies have a 112 wRC+ and only strikeout at an 18.9% rate against lefties, but those numbers include their games at Coors, so they will see a massive park downgrade playing in the bay tonight.
3) Tarik Skubal ($10400) -
Much like Kyle Wright, Tarik Skubal has been surprisingly fantastic to start this season, and carries an excellent matchup on this slate. Skubal draws the Pirates who create runs well below the league average with a 91 wRC+, while striking out at an inefficient 23.3% rate. With few threats aside from Hayes and Reynolds, Skubal should be able to improve upon his already fantastic 2.15 ERA.
Value Pitcher:
Ranger Suárez ($7300) -
I will start this section by stating that I have little interest in targeting a value pitcher on this slate, but if I had to pick one to take a shot on, it would be Ranger Suárez. Ranger Suárez has a 4.69 SIERA to pair with a 4.40 ERA, and is only getting Ks at a 19.40% clip. However, the Brewers have struggled mightily with lefty pitchers all season with a slate high 24.6% strikeout rate and 82 wRC+, so perhaps Suárez can piece together a strong performance against them tonight.
Other strong pitching options: Alek Manoah ($11000), Justin Verlander ($10900), Jameson Taillon ($9500), José Quintana ($8400)
Top Stacks:

1) Astros -
After lighting up Robbie Ray last night, the Astros find themselves as my favorite stack of the day against the Mariners' Chris Flexen. Flexen has actually pitched well against the Astros this season with 5 earned runs through 18 innings, but I think that trend will be tough to continue. Teams are usually able to pick up on pitchers when exposed with more familiarity to them, and Flexen has struggled against other teams to this point with 4.71 SIERA on the season. He is also allowing 1.46 HR/9, so I expect some balls to fly out tonight. When targeting the Astros, I would go after the usual targets in Alvarez, Altuve, Tucker, and Bregman, but I also really like Peña at a $2800 salary.
2) Giants -
Although I still believe Germán Márquez is a good pitcher in the long term, there is no arguing that he has been one of the worst pitchers in all of baseball this season. He is allowing a ton of hard contact with 1.80 HR/9 allowed across a 34.4% hard contact rate and 42.5% pull rate. Opposing batters are hitting .306 against him which has resulted in an abysmal ERA of 6.71. Oracle park is one of the tougher hitting ball parks, but Márquez has struggled so much that I don't think it matters a whole lot. The Giants like to switch up their lineup, but I like all of Pederson, Yastrzemski, Flores, Longoria, La Stella, and Gonzalez from their projected starters.
3) Yankees -
The last stacking spot on my list was a toss-up between the Yankees and the Red Sox, but I ultimately went with the better team. I should note that I would be very comfortable stacking the Sox against Detmers as well, but won't be discussing them here. Cole Sands will pitch for the Twins tonight, and although he has a lot of potential in this league with his strikeout ability, he is allowing a lot of runs like many other young pitchers do. Across a small sample size, Sands has allowed 2.25 HR/9 with a mammoth 7.88 ERA. With Stanton back in the lineup, the Yankees are an even easier target to load up on. Judge, Stanton, Rizzo, and Donaldson should be your top options if attacking this spot.
Secondary Stacks/One-offs: Red Sox, Cubs, Blue Jays, Braves
