On today's NBA main slate, we have a variety of players to build our lineups around as there are 7 games on the slate after the postponement of the PHO-ATL game. As usual, there are some injury news reports that we are waiting on, including whether Anthony Davis, Kristaps Porzingis, or others play. The Mavericks still have a large portion of their roster out with Covid protocols, so there is good value there. Let's dive into the breakdown of the NBA main slate on Fanduel today!
UPDATE: Nets players get a boost (particularly Harris and Jordan) after the Harden trade.
Top Play:
De'Aaron Fox - $7,300:
The POR-SAC game tonight has the highest implied total on the slate, and should be a fast-paced match-up. Anytime there is a high tempo game like this, I want pieces from each team, particularly with the guards. The Trail Blazers are coming in with below average defense against guards, which makes De'Aaron Fox a key roster piece for me. After seeing limited minutes in his first two games after injury, Fox saw 38 minutes on the court last game, and scored over 40 FD points. I am expecting similar numbers tonight, which is terrific value at $7,300.
Best Value:
Brook Lopez - $4,500/DeAndre Jordan - $3,800 (updated after trade):
With no clear center play in the higher price ranges today, I prefer taking the value and locking in Brook Lopez at just $4,500. In all models, he is currently projected to have the best value at the position by decent margins. Lopez has seen increased minutes recently with 27+ in all of his last five games, and has scored over 22 FD points in each. Lopez is a safe play to hit value, and has the potential to go for much more against a bad Pistons team.
Fade:
Giannis Antetokounmpo - $11,000:
Anytime a top team is playing the Pistons, I will most likely be fading the top players on the good team. The Pistons are bad. Bad teams playing good teams = blow out potential. Giannis doesn't always need great minutes to see elite production, but I don't want to take that risk. If you are paying up for a top guy on the slate, take Luka, unless you are going risky for a GPP takedown.
Main Player Pool:
Point Guard:
Luka Doncic - $11,300
Damian Lillard - $9,200
De'Aaron Fox - $7,300
Other great plays: LaMelo Ball - $7,400, Terry Rozier - $6,700, Elfrid Payton - $5,700, George Hill - $4,500, Trey Burke - $4,500, Patrick Beverley - $4,000
Shooting Guard:
D'Angelo Russell - $7,500
Tyrese Haliburton - $5,400
Eric Bledsoe - $5,300 (if he plays)
Other great plays: C.J. McCollum - $9,200, Buddy Hield - $5,000, Donte DiVincenzo - $4,600, Nickeil Alexander-Walker - $3,800, Wes Iwundu - $3,500 (punt), Gary Trent - $3,500 (punt), Bruce Brown - $3,500 (punt)
Small Forward:
Kyle Anderson - $5,400
Joe Harris - $4,900
Miles Bridges - $4,300
Other great plays: Kevin Durant - $10,100, Kawhi Leonard - $9,200, Brandon Ingram - $8,800, Gordon Hayward - $7,800, Khris Middleton - $7,400, RJ Barrett - $6,300, Malik Beasley - $5,800, Carmelo Anthony - $4,500, Josh Hart - $4,400
Power Forward:
Julius Randle - $9,100
James Johnson - $4,200
Kyle Kuzma - $3,900 (near lock if AD doesn't play)
Other great plays: PJ Washington - $6,500, Brandon Clarke - $5,600, Robert Covington - $4,800 (near lock if Nurkic doesn't play), Isaiah Roby - $4,100, Mike Muscala - $4,000, Marcus Morris - $3,800
Center:
RIchaun Holmes - $6,400
Brook Lopez - $4,500
DeAndre Jordan - $3,800 (updated after trade)
Other great plays: Karl Anthony-Towns - $10,500, Jonas Valanciunas - $6,900, Mitchell Robinson - $6,000, Gorgui Dieng - $4,300
Core/Lineup:
My core 3 are De'Aaron Fox, James Johnson, and Brook Lopez (or DeAndre Jordan - updated after trade). If AD or Nurkic don't play, Kuzma or Covington could be swapped with Johnson as a lock.
