NBA DFS Picks For Fanduel 1/2/21

We did not start off 2021 hot as last night was a miserable main slate for most people, with the line for both cash games and GPPs being under 270 points. I was all over the Bulls value, but that game ended up being a blow out like a couple of the other games on the slate, so it really hurt my lineup. I don't plan on continuing losing in 2021, so let's turn that around on the second day of the year! Today is a smaller slate with only 5 games, so your options to pick up from are somewhat limited. Keep reading to get my analysis of the NBA main slate on Fanduel today!
REMINDER: If you would like the lineup that I will be using, RT the article post on twitter at @SportsVerseHQ, DM @Excyphir, and follow both accounts.
Top Play:
Damontas Sabonis - $9,400:
Damontas Sabonis has been the definition of reliable this season. He is averaging nearly 47 FD points per showing, and has only failed to reach 45 points once. For cash games, consistency is the main thing you should look for, so Sabonis is my lock of the slate. He does carry a hefty price tag, but if he can produce as he has so far this season, you will be happy. Also, there is a serious lack of value at PF on this slate.
Best Value:
Elfrid Payton - $5,000:
This slate has much fewer value options than the previous slates, but some more may open up if the Magic rule out Evan Fournier. However, in the case that he plays, Elfrid Payton still remains as one of the top guys in terms of value. His minutes and usage should still be high with Frank Ntilikina and Obi Toppin out, as well as Immanuel Quickly and Alec Burks questionable. You are looking for 25+ points at $5,000, and that should be relatively safe with Payton.
Fade:
Zion Williamson - $8,100:
This fade may have a little to do with me being bitter over Zion burning me in his last appearance, but it is my fade nonetheless. At over $8,000 you are expecting over 40 from Zion, and he has only mustered two games out of five with that output. In my eyes, Randle and Siakam are much better options at a similar price.
Main Player Pool:
Point Guard:
Ben Simmons - $8,600
Malcolm Brogdon - $7,500
Elfrid Payton - $5,000
Other great plays: Trae Young - $9,700, Lonzo Ball - $6,500, Markelle Fultz - $5,800, LaMelo Ball - $5,300, Cole Anthony - $4,000, Michael Carter-Williams - $3,800, Dante Exum - $3,600
Shooting Guard:
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander - $8,200
Collin Sexton - $6,800
Eric Bledsoe - $4,600
Other great plays: Fred VanVleet - $7,500, Devonte' Graham - $5,900, Terrence Ross - $5,400, Josh Hart - $4,400, Kevin Huerter - $4,000, Dwayne Bacon - $3,500
Small Forward:
Larry Nance Jr. - $6,800
RJ Barrett - $5,900
Miles Bridges - $5,000
Other great plays: Bogdan Bogdanovic - $5,400, Cam Reddish - $4,900, De'Andre Hunter - $4,600, Justin Holiday - $3,900, Norman Powell - $3,800
Power Forward:
Damontas Sabonis - $9,400
Julius Randle - $8,000
